I believe that people come to therapy because they want to experience change in their lives. Whether it be relational, emotional, mental, physical, spiritual, or academic/career concerns, many of these areas of our lives can leave us feeling stuck and frustrated. As a therapist, I combine my educational and mental health backgrounds to help my clients better understand the source of the problems they might be experiencing and then to recognize and implement the choices they have to make changes. Working together, we will discover your personal values, determine your strengths and weaknesses, and identify the areas of your life in which you are experiencing difficulties. Drawing upon your strengths and working to increase your weaknesses, we will develop short and long-term goals to help you achieve the life you want to live. I most commonly use a combination of attachment-based therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, and an overall positive psychology approach. Although I consider myself to be skilled at treating a wide-variety of concerns, my particular expertise includes relational/social issues, social anxiety, anxiety, depression, trauma and career/academic concerns. I enjoy treating both individuals and couples.
Background: I received my Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, my Masters in Education from Texas State University, and my Bachelors in Education from Oklahoma State University. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) with over 10 years of combined experience in the fields of both education and mental health. I have worked with adolescents and adults in a variety of both public and private settings.
