Len "Coach" Shelby, LPC

Len is a Licensed Professional Counselor, serving adults, children, and teens. Len has experience working with those who are struggling with anxiety, depression and emotional dysregulation caused by anger and stress. Because of Len’s teaching and coaching background, he has many years of experience working with kids and teens. Coach works with men and women helping them navigate major life transitions, setbacks and issues that challenge all of us in each stage of our lives. He works with couples using a solution-focused approach while honoring the pain and struggle we all experience in our marriages. Len is a trained Symbis Premarital Counselor and collaborates with churches who desire a faith-based approach to marital and premarital counseling.
Len received his bachelor’s degree from Rice University where he was a four-year letterman and All-Conference and All-American catcher. He received his masters from Lubbock Christian University in school counseling and completed his internship hours through Harding University. He worked with Ascent, a mental health agency in Memphis, TN while completing his clinical hours of supervision for LPC licensure. Len has received training in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), both evidenced based approaches for working with complex trauma.
Coach spent twenty-five years as a Texas High School football and baseball coach before deciding to pursue a second half career as a Licensed Professional Counselor.  Len’s background as an educator, player and coach, has equipped him to work with students in both the arts and athletic arenas. Using both counseling and coaching, Coach shares strategies to help them manage their performance stress and anxiety while competing at an elite level.
