I would be privileged to work with you to understand your child’s unique needs and come up with some practical strategies to move towards feelings of greater success. My therapeutic style is to focus on building a sound supportive relationship with my clients. While empathizing with their challenges, I encourage them to explore and draw upon their underlying strengths. I consider parents to be the expert on their children and endeavor to keep them in the loop as much as possible throughout the therapeutic process.
My passions include play therapy, helping caregivers reframe problem behaviors and collaboratively coming up with more effective strategies for relating to their child, tweaking study skills to improve executive functioning, and facilitating improved social skills through fun small group activities.
Training Background: I am a licensed psychologist, a licensed specialist in school psychology, and a licensed professional counselor. Originally from the UK, I began my career in mental health as a counseling psychologist in South Africa 25 years ago, gaining deep appreciation for multicultural perspectives and integrating a variety of sound therapeutic techniques to collaboratively support my clients. After completing a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of North Texas in 2007 and working in Lewisville ISD for 12 years, I am excited to have joined PEACE Psychology Center to continue to assist families in the DFW area. I am recognized within Texas as a Board-Approved LPC Supervisor and I enjoy mentoring the next generation of mental-health care providers.
